Panda in the Snow

Panda was our Great Pyrenees.  We got her when she was a year old and was no longer a  cuddly puppy, but a very large dog with no behavior training.  The contacts from her electronic fence collar had become embedded in her skin  and she needed medical attention right away.  She was a gentle but rambunctious dog and had formed a loyal bond with the family who no longer wanted her.  With lots of love, patience and obedience training she was able to transfer that bond to us.  She was a beloved member of our family for ten years, before cancer took her from us.

Panda was happiest in  cold and snowy weather when she would refuse to come inside.  This is one of my favorite photos of her.

What a gorgeous dog! I do understand what you are going thru. We lost our beloved Rottie some years ago to cancer. For a lack of better words, cancer sucks!

Hoping you have a happy and healthy 2012!

Pat what a beautiful dog! I am so shocked by the behavior of some people towards their pets and find the treatment of Panda by her previous owners horrible! Thank god there are people like you and your family to have rescued her! She may not have begun her life in a wonderful environment but she sure left it that way! She will be watching over all of you! We just rescued a 6 year old Pug in September who was covered in scabs and exzema etc… He was underweight and very skittish. Now he has plumped up, his fur is in perfect condition and the family and our yellow lab all love him. He is an absolute sweetheart! Best thing I’ve ever done. He has taught us more about love and compassion than I could imagine! I know this is a difficult time but I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!
